How Do I Become a Christian?
What does Salvation mean?
Salvation is the gift of eternal life that we are given through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the Son of God that came to this earth as a baby thru a virgin, grew to manhood and lived a sinless life, thereby making himself a perfect sacrifice by dying on the cross and paying the penalty of our sin that we couldn’t pay. However, it didn’t end there, 3 days later He rose from the dead and conquered death and thus He is the first born risen from the dead and becomes the ONLY way for us to God the Father and eternal life.
I need help - How can I be Saved?
1. Everyone needs salvation because we all have sinned.
Romans 3:10 As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all
men, for that all have sinned.
2. The price (or consequence) of sin is death.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
3. Jesus Christ died for our sins and paid the price for our death giving us eternal life in exchange.
Romans 5:8 But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not
perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to
save the world through him.
4. We receive salvation and eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.
Romans 10:9-10 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from
the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it
is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.
Romans 10:13 …For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
5. Salvation through Jesus Christ brings us into a relationship of peace with God.
Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what
Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us.
Romans 8:38-39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither
angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of
hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below – indeed,
nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
Please take a moment and consider your life, are you ready to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior? Are you ready to stop running from Him and to lay down your life by asking Him to forgive you and give you a new start? He's waiting and He's ready, it's not hard, just ask and believe...
If you believe, you can respond by receiving God’s free gift of salvation today. Here’s how:
1. Admit that you are a sinner
2. Understand that as a sinner, you deserve death.
3. Believe Jesus Christ died for you on the cross to save you from sin and death thus paying the penalty of your sin
4. Repent by turning from your old life of sin to a new life in Christ
5. Receive the free gift of Salvation, through faith in Jesus Christ.
Suggested Sinner’s Prayer
Dear God, I understand that I’m a sinner and that I am not able to earn your love. I understand that you love me just as I am, and for that I am very thankful. I’m coming to you today, to ask you to forgive me of my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. I accept the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus' death and His resurrection as the penalty of my sin that I couldn’t pay. Please forgive me and help me to turn my life over to you. Help me live a life that pleases you from here out. I pray this in Jesus name.
Amen
